Simon Baker is The Mentalist Patrick Jane, an independent consultant to the California Office of Investigation based in Sacramento, California. Although not a law enforcement officer of any kind, using their skills and knowledge of his previous career as a successful medium (it was a ruse, do not think anyone really has psychic abilities) to help a team of agents CBI solve several crimes, hoping one day to take his wife and child murderer to justice.
