The Office is an American television comedy series broadcast by NBC. An adaptation of the BBC series The Office, the series depicts the daily lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, but has been purchased by a printing company called Sabre. To simulate the look of a real documentary, filmed in a single camera setup, without a studio audience or a track from risa.La Office has been adapted for American audiences by executive producer Greg Daniels, a veteran writer for Saturday Night Live, the Hills and The Simpsons. The creators of the original BBC series, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are executive producers and co-wrote the pilot episode with Daniels and wrote the season three episodes, "the prisoner." It is co-produced by Daniels' Deedle-Dee Productions, Diana Productions, in association with Universal Media Studios. The show debuted on NBC as a midseason replacement on March 24, 2005 .
