Vinny Guadagnino Sets Sights on … Law School?

January 27th, 2010

Vinny Guadagnino, also known as the most laid back member of the Jersey Shore cast, actually has a career plan in place once his reality TV days end.

“I just took the LSAT,” the 21-year-old told Us Weekly. “My score was decent. If my score was really have, I might have tried to go to Yale or Harvard.”

“But it was just mediocre. I can get into law school. I had a 3.9 GPA, Latin Honors, but I’m doing this now. Law school is always on the back burner.”

True. Who wouldn’t be happier fist pumping at the beach?

Vinny Guadagnino Picture

Vinny Guadagnino says he’s enjoying the fame from appearing on an MTV reality show, watched by 4.8 million viewers during last week’s Jersey Shore season finale.

“I was always humble and I was the person on the couch watching this and never even imagined it would happen to me,” he said. “Now I’m suddenly right there in the front row being interviewed, so just the whole experience is a dream.”

We feel similarly watching it, as if it couldn’t possibly be a real show.

The cast is currently in negotiations to return for a second season.

No word if Vinny Guadagnino is still tangin’ The Situation’s sister.

So You Think You Can Dance - Mia Michaels

Mia Michaels isn’t done with So You Think You Can Dance just yet: The Emmy-winning choreographer will judge the Season 7 audition rounds in New York, TVGuide.com has learned.

Mia Michaels leaving So You Think You Can Dance

Michaels, who left the show last season citing “other opportunities to take my art to the next level,” joined executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman on the judging panel at The Paradise Theater in the Bronx Tuesday.

While Michaels is only confirmed for the New York tryouts at this time, she has never fully ruled out a return to the show. “[Nigel and I] have a great relationship and if it’s meant to be, it’ll be,” she told TVGuide.com in November, shortly after announcing her exit. “But right now, I’m focusing on my brand, exploring my new shows and a few other things.”

Mia Michaels: I’m going to be the next Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum

Michaels has contributed to So You Think You Can Dance as a judge and choreographer since its inception. She won an Emmy in 2007 for her choreography on the show and was nominated again in 2008.

Dance’s seventh season returns this summer. Auditions for the new season have already been held in Miami.

Are you excited to have Michaels back in the fold? Do you hope she sticks around for more?

Jorge Garcia

Before Lost kicks off its final season (Tuesday, Feb. 2, 9/8c, ABC), let’s flash back to May 2009 and remember where all our favorite characters left off and what might be next.

Lost: Blink and you’ll miss the new Season 6 footage

HUGO “HURLEY” REYES (Jorge Garcia)

Where We Left Off: In the Season 5 finale, Jacob encouraged Hurley to return to the island on Ajira 316, by telling him that he is not cursed, but in fact blessed. In the episode’s final moments, Hurley drove his favorite VW van to the Swan Station site, Sayid and Miles in tow, to act as Jack’s back-up when he gets in trouble with the Dharma Initiative.

What’s Next: Producers have confirmed that Cynthia Watros will reprise the role of Libby, paving the way for a reunion of the quirky coupling. Garcia has also hinted that we haven’t seen the last of “the numbers” just yet.

Burning Questions: Is Hurley blessed? If so, are “the numbers” some kind of prayer? Will he reunite with Libby? Is he still a millionaire?

Brooke Mueller Ordered to Undergo Therapy

January 26th, 2010

Still recovering from pneumonia, Brooke Mueller has been ordered to undergo stress reduction and psychological therapy sessions.

“The doctors told Brooke on Sunday that if she wants to get better she has to reduce stress and get a lot of R&R in the coming weeks,” an insider told People. “Her mom is checking out spas around the country now.”

Sounds like the best prescription we’ve ever heard of.

Mueller, Brooke

Mueller has pneumonia in both lungs, which makes it difficult for her to breathe. She’s still stuck in the intensive care unit of a Los Angles hospital, where she’s been receiving a dose of strong antibiotics for close to a week.

The doctors treating Brooke blame her slow recovery on the enormous stress in her life, a lot of which is a result of the Christmas Eve incident where she was allegedly beaten and threatened by Charlie Sheen.

“The doctors basically said Brooke is not going to get better without taking her health in her own hands and reducing the stress surrounding her life,” said the source. “She has to do it now.”

On February 8, Mueller and Sheen are due in court to see if a judge will lift an order of protection against the actor.

24’s Mary Lynn Rajskub: Chloe’s Getting Some Action

January 25th, 2010

  • by
    Natalie Abrams

24, Mary Lynn Rajskub

This season on 24, Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) isn’t just sitting back at the computer anymore. Rajskub tells TVGuide.com that Chloe will take matters into her own hands. She also discusses the possible grim future for Chloe, Dana’s dirty little secret and which femme fatale her character will be teaming up with.

24’s Chloe has a new nemesis

TVGuide.com: What do you think makes this season of 24 stand out?
Rajskub:
I definitely think there’s stuff that’s the same about 24 [each season], but that’s the beauty of 24 — that you know the components. The writers work very hard making the stuff different. The characters have evolved. They find different ways to have all these differences in the characters. Although there’s a terrorist plot, it’s how the plot unfolds. I really love the peace-talk plot that’s happening. That parallels what’s happening in real life and that’s an interesting concept.

TVGuide.com: Chloe stepped into a leadership role in the premiere. Will that continue this season?
Rajskub:
Yeah, and I think that’s what’s cool about 24. … When you watch Chloe from the beginning, she’s very much by the rules. Now, after all that she’s been through, she’s having to stand behind her own convictions and be a little pushy about it.

TVGuide.com: Chloe seems already suspicious about what’s going on with Dana (Katee Sackhoff). What will we find out?
Rajskub:
It’s just getting really interesting. In the next few episodes, there’s going to be some pretty twisted stuff happening. Honestly, you can’t really grasp what’s going on with her for many episodes, and we’re all just trying to do our own stuff. Although I give her a look and we suspect [something], it doesn’t really come out for a while.

24: Katee Sackhoff says Dana Walsh is no Starbuck

TVGuide.com: Would we be on the right track to think there’s some sort of Bonnie and Clyde dynamic with Dana and her ex?
Rajskub:
Oh, interesting. I do wonder why she gave him the key. That’s not a good sign. She is still is weak for him on some level.

TVGuide.com: Will Chloe return to the field this season?
Rajskub:
I do get some really good action. It’s not like I’m outside running through the jungle or anything, but I do take matters into my own hands at some point.

TVGuide.com: Will she continue to butt heads with Renee (Annie Wersching) this season?
Rajskub:
Her and Renee join together a little bit. Not in the way you’re thinking [Laughs]. It’s already been shown that Renee is kind of nuts, but I will say that there is a support system down the line between Renee and Jack and Chloe.

24’s Annie Wersching: Renee is “completely dangerous”

TVGuide.com: With Chloe taking things into her own hands, would she ever torture anyone?
Rajskub:
I don’t think so. Killing someone, sure. But could you see Chloe being able to torture someone? No. I think to be torturing someone, you have to cross a line. … I don’t think Chloe is to that point yet. If 24 is on for 10 more years, then yes, she will be torturing people.

TVGuide.com: Do you feel you guys are heading towards a series finale?
Rajskub:
I have no idea. We’ve been wondering that all year. Every day I go to work, we wonder if we’re going next year. Right now, I’ve only read Episode 19 and 20, so I’ll be really curious to see what happens.

TVGuide.com: There are higher stakes this year, especially if it turns out to be the last season. Are you ever worried that Chloe might be killed?
Rajskub:
Oh, I don’t worry about it. I hope that it will be something really, really cool if she gets killed. I hope that she isn’t. It’s really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I’ll play her as long as I’m able to.

24: Jack Bauer will survive to the end of the series

TVGuide.com: Will Jack make it to the plane at the end of the season to go back to Los Angeles?
Rajskub:
I hope he does, but I’m a softy. I like romantic comedies. I want there to be a happy ending.

Do you want to see a happy ending?

Life Unexpected Creator: Cate and Baze Are Not Soul Mates

January 25th, 2010

    Natalie Abrams

Life Unexpected

Whenever a new show premieres, audiences tend to pick out the couple that’s meant to be together. On Life Unexpected, it’s easy to choose Cate (Shiri Appleby) and Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) as soul mates because they have a child together, but executive producer Liz Tigelaar doesn’t quite agree. Tigelaar discussed the story behind the new CW series, what’s next for the relationships on Life, and what we’ll learn about Lux (Brittany Robertson).

Life Unexpected’s Kerr Smith talks about new series and days on the Creek

TVGuide.com: You drew inspiration for Life Unexpected from your own life.
Liz Tigelaar:
Whenever I try to write something new, I never want to try to write something about me. I think a lot of people do that and try to tell their story. This project comes from something I’m always thinking about as a kid who is adopted: “Are there people out there like me? Where did I come from? Who is my birth family?”

The main thing is this fantasy that a lot of adoptive kids have When you’re just born into a family, sometimes you joke that you wish you were adopted, but you know these are the people you came from. When you’re adopted, you think that there all these people that could be your family and create this fantasy. The inspiration for the pilot came from that idea of having a fantasy of who the mother is and then realizing that the fantasy doesn’t match the reality.

TVGuide.com: What other inspirations did you pull from that we’ll discover throughout the series?
Tigelaar:
The idea of exploring thirtysomethings today. I feel like our generation is more like women who prioritize careers over relationships and guys who still look like frat boys and play video games and drink Miller Lite. The underlying thing is the search for family and people you belong to. It’s one thing to be adopted and feel that initial rejection in your life, but you know how badly you were wanted by other people. If you remove being wanted so badly by other people, how does that rejection impact your life?

Read our Life Unexpected pilot recap

TVGuide.com: Will we learn more about Lux’s background?
Tigelaar:
Yeah. I would love to explore the reality of this kid in foster care, but I don’t know if we’re ever going to be able to truly get into the darkness and sadness of it in a recurring way. But we’re filming a flashback of little Lux and little Tasha [Ksenia Solo] at Sunnyvale, the girl’s home they met at. We show her a little before she comes to Cate and Baze. We have some of Tasha’s past coming into it and there will be other people — if there are more seasons — from Lux’s past that will affect her present. We won’t do a ton of flashbacks, but I’ve always wanted to do episodes about finding out who her other foster parents were and who she might have been attached to and let down by.

TVGuide.com: Cate and Baze did sleep together in the pilot. Will that come back to haunt them later in the season?
Tigelaar:
Obviously when something big happens like that in the pilot, with two characters carrying a significant secret, you’re waiting for it to come out. That will definitely happen, and as most secrets do, they come out at an inopportune time. In terms of Cate and Baze’s relationship, these are two people who have to really reconcile what their feelings are about each other. Because of TV, we’re trained to think that Cate and Baze belong together. But there’s a good question in there: “Really? You’re the soul mate of the guy who knocked you up in high school in the back of a minivan? Really?” Logic says that’s ridiculous.

TVGuide.com: How will this affect Cate and Ryan’s relationship?
Tigelaar:
Ryan [Kerr Smith] is the perfect guy; he’s a real man. He sees the world broadly, and he’s not a selfish man. He’s a very heroic character. Both Cate and Baze haven’t grown up. Ryan and Lux are the grownups. [It's] interesting to explore what [love is] and how Cate rationalizes what she did with Baze in sleeping with him. Does that mean she’s in love with him? What is it that he stirs up inside of her that can’t make her let the past go? We’ll explore how much of that has to do with Baze and how much that has to do with something else.

Check out photos from Life Unexpected

TVGuide.com: What is the overall arc of the series?
Tigelaar:
The arc of the series, in terms of Cate and Baze’s feelings, is both of them having to understand what their dynamic is and what their feelings really are for each other. We’ve just written the finale and it definitely comes to a head.

TVGuide.com: What is your one line pitch for fans to continue tuning in?
Tigelaar:
I would just say that if they want to watch a family show that has humor and heart, I just think this is it. I’m trying to write in the vein of shows that I admire and I would say My So-Called Life, Friday Night Lights and American Dreams are the shows that, to me, make me feel something. If people want to watch a show that will hopefully make them feel something, I hope they will tune in. It’s a total coming-of-age story; it’s just the grown-ups that have to come of age.
