Idol’s Ashthon Jones on Being Labeled a Diva: "I Know I Ain’t All That"

March 17th, 2011

Ashton Jones | Photo Credits: Michael Becker / FOX

Is American Idol’s Ashthon Jones really a diva?

Although the recently eliminated singer performed with an attitude that earned that label from the judges, Jones says she was sad that voters may have taken it the wrong way.

“When I get on stage, I’m a different person, and I think America might’ve twisted it a little bit…I know I ain’t all that,” she tells TVGuide.com.

Dr. Jim Taylor: Television — and America — on the Couch

It seems as if every time we turn on the television, open a newspaper, or go on line, the bad guys are winning. Television shows are a projection of anxiety and discontent that many in America experience.

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ - ‘1 of 7 Voted Off’ Recap

July 16th, 2010

The bottom three of SYTYCD: Jose, Billy, and Ashley(S07E15) As Cat welcomes America to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ we’re reminded that Ashley will be in the bottom three. I’m quite confused as to why we weren’t allowed to see Ashley at all this week as last week Alex was sobbing in the audience. Seeing her being able to stand up for the final three should have allowed her to sit in the audience.

Group Dance
- Broadway - With more of the contestants being eliminated, using the All-Stars seems like an interesting choice for choreographers. I don’t think I saw Jose once during the routine except for when he carted Cat onto the stage. The fact that Dominic was doing all of the break moves shows that Tyce either didn’t like Jose’s repertoire or that he’s not confident in Jose. The line routine was the best part of the dance, but I have to raise an eyebrow seeing that Kent was the last one standing on the table. Was that a subliminal message?

Sofia Vergara Emmy Surprise

July 10th, 2010

Though the actors who announce the Emmy nominations are often awarded with one of their own, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara had no inkling that a nomination for best supporting actress in a comedy series was coming her way. “I’m so new to acting and America, so I didn’t know it meant something when they invite you here,” she tells TV Guide Magazine. “Somebody should have told me!”

There was, however, one nod she was expecting. “I was completely sure…

Welcome to The Hollywood Gossip’s Week in Review.

Below, we look back on the last seven days in celebrity gossip and Hollywood news. Visit us daily and follow THG on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news, gossip, rumors, commentary and humor as it happens. In the past week

  • After Tweeting an upskirt photo of Miley Cyrus, Perez Hilton defended his actions and basked in the publicity, while Miley performed on a pair of talk shows.
  • Former Party of Five and 7th Heaven star Jeremy London revealed that he was kidnapped at gunpoint and force to take drugs by some Palm Springs thugs.

  • Devon James then made similar allegations.

Perez PictureWhat is This Outfit?!?

Perez supports universal health care, and possibly child … forget it.

  • Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin are apparently back together. We’ll see if that lasts, now that Mercede Johnston, his sister, has debuted an anti-Palin blog.
  • With the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death approaching, his insane father, Joe Jackson, blamed Katherine Jackson for it, and also AEG.
  • Meanwhile, Randy Jackson, Michael’s brother, suffered a heart attack, and Katherine wants her former daughter-in-law and her kids out of the house.
  • Anna Gray and Shannon Price are battling for Gary Coleman’s estate.
  • There are DUIs, and there is Chris Klein, driving absolutely plastered.
  • NFL QB Vince Young was arrested in a fight, then asked God for help.
  • Lindsay Lohan actually tested negative for drugs and alcohol!

Katherine and Joe Jackson Picture

Michael Jackson’s parents both made news this week.

  • Robert Pattinson either dumped Kristen Stewart or wants to marry her, depending on the tabloid you read. In real news, she and Taylor Lautner are hot!
  • Ali Fedotowsky is getting serious with a number of guys on one of TV’s highest rated reality shows, but The Bachelorette spoilers hint a shocking ending.
  • Speaking of eligible gals, will Kate Gosselin follow in Ali’s footsteps?

Jesse James: Janine Lindemulder is Unstable

June 18th, 2010

He may be America’s Most Hated, but Jesse James says his ex-wife Janine Lindemulder is a hard core druggie who shouldn’t be left alone with their child.

In short, he’s an immoral, cheating mess - but she’s flat out dangerous!

She’s also a convicted felon, which he didn’t even mention in his recent bid to keep their daughter protected from her, but it probably won’t help her case.

Jesse believes Janine is so unstable that he’s refusing to allow daughter Sunny to spend time alone with her mom, in spite of a court order to the contrary.

The embattled bike entrepreneur’s attorney is going to court Friday morning, armed with evidence that his second ex-wife cannot be trusted unmonitored.

LindemulderBullock and James

Janine and Sandra are both peeved at Jesse … for different reasons.

The judge in the custody battle issued an order last week, allowing Janine, a porn star straight out of a halfway house, the right to unmonitored visitation.

James, who has full custody rights for the time being, granted her access to Sunny recently, but apparently soured on the prospect of unsupervised time.

Reports say Janine was actually supposed to see Sunny yesterday but Jesse refused to hand over the 6-year-old girl because he felt she would be at risk.

We’ll see what the judge decides this time around.

As if drama with Sandra Bullock weren’t enjoy for Jesse these days … poor guy. Well, partially. He deserves all the blame for cheating on Sandra. Jerk!

Smallville’s Erica Durance: Lois Will Get to Play the Hero

Smallville

After more than eight seasons, Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and Clark Kent (Tom Welling) have finally become a couple on Smallville. TVGuide.com spoke with Durance about the blossoming relationship between these iconic characters and Lois getting to play her own hero.

Watch full episodes of Smallville

TVGuide.com: How is Lois adjusting to being in a relationship with Clark?
Durance: She’s having moments for sure. What I like about them, as they’re getting together, they’re still being Lois and Clark. It’s not like they lose their banters and they lose the moments of how different they are. They still have that kind of communication with each other. She’s on a slippery slope, though. Obviously this is a different type of relationship than she’s ever had before, deeper feelings than she’s had before, so she’s trying to deal with it.

TVGuide.com: Is it weird now having to do these steamy scenes with Tom?
Durance: Nope! No, it’s not weird. It’s just like any other scene that you’re doing. Our focus isn’t whether the scene is steamy. It’s always tricky when you’ve had two characters that have been not together, but wanting to be together and then figuring out how to actually bring them together and honor that iconic relationship, that’s been trickier than our steamy scenes.

TVGuide.com: Annette O’Toole is returning to the show. Will Martha Kent approve of their relationship?
Durance: The one thing that Lois found is that Martha was the first person that was very accepting of Lois and could see through all of the awkward things that she would do and her defense mechanisms. So I believe that she would actually be fine with it.

TVGuide.com: How do you feel about the fans who say Clark should be with Chloe (Allison Mack)?
Durance: The one thing that I really love about Smallville, people are excited and they love the characters. I can see their point of view. I can see why they love Chloe. She’s been there since the inception and has been this amazing friend to him. They want to see that turn into something else. Whether that ends up happening, I think Lois still wins. [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: Will there be more Lois and Chloe interaction?
Durance: I’ve missed working with her. … she knows Chloe is off doing her thing. Lois is trying to bring her back to socializing with people and coming out. … they some really, really funny stuff coming up.

Smallville: Justin Hartley says Chloe-Oliver are a go

TVGuide.com: Michael McKean is also coming back as Perry White. Is this a big turning point in Lois’ journalism career?
Durance: They haven’t given me specifics on that yet, but I’m assuming that once she’s introduced to him that that will be absolutely a turning point for her. Obviously, bringing that character in, we’re trying to propel things forward.

TVGuide.com: How does it feel to play the moment of the two of them meeting?
Durance: Like any other thing that I’ve done on the show, I think that if you get lost in how iconic it is and what you’re doing, it sometimes, at least for myself, that’s a little too overwhelming. I take it day to day and scene to scene and I’ll just enjoy getting to play that moment and getting to work with Michael.

TVGuide.com: Will we see Lois’ memories of the future return again, or are those completely gone?
Durance: What I think what’s happened is once it’s been shown that this is what’s happening, you have the main characters, except Lois because her memory has been erased, trying to eradicate that to create a new future. We’re looking to have that change now.

Smallville casting exclusive: Odessa Rae joins as DC villain

TVGuide.com: Lois is known for her digging. What sort of interaction will she have with the Justice Society of America?
Durance: What we have is the Justice Society of America and they’re meeting up with Clark, Oliver [Justin Hartley] and John Jones [Phil Morris]. Clark is getting a first-hand take on what’s happening. We find out throughout the two-hour event that Lois is also doing her own investigating, coming up with the exact same conclusions all on her own. She has a run-in with Dr. Fate [Brent Stait] and he gives her some very interesting insight into her future. Then, of course, she also is introduced into the fray by getting a package from Checkmate.

TVGuide.com: What involvement will Lois have with Amanda Waller (Pam Grier) and Checkmate?
Durance: What they have set up so far is that Amanda Waller will be in contact with Lois to give her information. She knows Lois is a great journalist. So far, that’s the connection, so we’ll see how they thread that through in the next few episodes.

TVGuide.com: What interaction will Lois have when Metallo (Brian Austin Green) returns?
Durance:
It’s a really interesting turn of events between Lois and John Corbin and his [alter ego] Metallo. She gets to see him in a new light. She gets a chance to be her own hero in that episode.

CW picks up Hayden Panettiere- and Tom Welling-produced pilots

TVGuide.com: Are you signed on for Season 10 when the show gets picked up?
Durance:
[Laughs] I love your choice of wording. My contract goes through Season 10 and we’ll all find out if we’re there a little bit later.

Are you happy Lois and Clark are finally together?
