Audrina Patridge and Ryan Cabrera Break Up

May 20th, 2010

It’s over for Audrina Patridge and Ryan Cabrera. They had a good four months of dating going. We are sad it didn’t last longer for them. But we’re not shocked.

The Hills star cycles through boyfriends in prolific fashion, as we all know, and a source confirms that she and her latest one split up “a little over a week” ago.

“Things started to go awry the night of her birthday and she ended things after that - pretty much the next day,” explains an insider of the now-former couple.

Audrina Patridge, who just turned 25, and Cabrera, 27, spent May 9 in Las Vegas partying at Liquid Pool at Aria, then later at Las Palmas Latin Supper Club.

Ryan Cabrera and Audrina Patridge have called it a relationship.

Things seemed to be going so well, too, but they took a turn for the worst early this month. The biggest issue behind Audzo’s breakup with the lame singer?

“Ryan’s a constant partier and that became an issue,” says the source. “Audrina was crying at Wango Tango … MTV made her film and she didn’t want to.”

The former couple first dated several years ago, and then rekindled a romance last January. They were spotted vacationing in Mexico together in February.

Patridge’s last on-screen romance was Justin-Bobby Brescia, ending last year. There was also Corey Bohan … and Tal Cooperman, and Brody Jenner, and …

In the superhero sequel, DJ AM plays himself spinning at a lavish Malibu birthday party for billionaire-superhero Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). But he was strongly encouraged to include the scene by the late musician’s family and friends.

Chace Crawford Steps Out of Footloose Remake

April 13th, 2010

Chace Crawford

Kevin Bacon’s dancing shoes are proving to be hard to fill.

After replacing Zac Efron in the Footloose remake, Chace Crawford has now backed out of the project due to scheduling conflicts, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Chace Crawford joins Footloose

The flick is set to start filming this summer, which would overlap with Crawford’s Gossip Girl schedule as the CW drama resumes production for Season 4 in July. Paramount Pictures will now most likely cast an unknown to play Ren, a source told EW.

Crawford, 24, is the latest high-profile name the film has lost in the past year. Nearly six months after Efron exited the musical to avoid being typecast, director Kenny Ortega dropped out in October, citing exhaustion from his work on Michael Jackson’s documentary This Is It. The project has also undergone a rewrite.

Julianne Hough grooves on with new projects

Footloose 2.0 still has its leading lady though: Dancing with the Stars pro Julianne Hough is attached to play Ariel, portrayed in the 1984 hit by Lori Singer.

Calls to Crawford’s rep and Paramount weren’t immediately returned.

THG Movie Reviews: An Average Date Night

April 10th, 2010

Date Night stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell, actors responsible for uttering 30 Rock quotes and The Office quotes each week that leave us in stiches.

Therefore, you’d expect the film to be the funniest of the year; heck, of the last 10 years.

Instead, it’s simply an average comedy. You’ll laugh out loud a couple times, and probably have a smirk on your face throughout its 88-minute running time. But considering it stars two comedic heavyweights, the movie is a letdown.

The reason is simple, too: instead of relying on a funny script, Date Night relies too heavily on its leads. Certain lines may be humorous because Fey or Carell delivers them, but there’s nothing in the plot or dialogue itself that stands out.

It comes as no surprise, for example, that the best scene in the film involves a stripper routine that Carell improvised.

Date Night Scene

It’s a shame that the on-screen debut of Fey and Carel as a team didn’t take place in a movie penned by the actress herself. She wrote Mean Girls, after all, an underrated classic. She was also the head writer for years on Saturday Night Live and the main influence on 30 Rock.

Instead of Fey’s brilliant, snarky one-liners (the kind that have earned Alec Baldwin numerous Emmy nominations), her and Carell are stuck doing slapstick and reciting jokes that are far beneath them.

We understand that Carell doesn’t want to simply do a version of Michael Scott in every role, but this is an actor who’s at his funniest when he recites ridiculous dialogue, or finds himelf in ridiculous situations, that his character takes seriously. He’s a master at subtlety and at sarcasm.

Neither of those are on display in Date Night, as finds Fey driving herself a car, with Carell on the hood, and screaming for him to “Move your ass, honey!” Typical situations such as that just make us wish we were watching Liz Lemon.

But the film isn’t awful. It also features Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and James Franco, a solid cast all-around.

Check out photos of the cast at the NYC premiere and then chime in if you’ve seen Date Night: What did you think?

Report: Gerard Butler to Impregnate Jennifer Aniston

April 7th, 2010

Five cities. Five countries. Three weeks. One baby.

That’s how long and how far Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler have traveled together promoting The Bounty Hunter, and what the actress expects to get out of it.

According to the unintentionally comedic OK! Magazine, it was during Jen and Gerard’s stop in Madrid, Spain, that fans started buzzing about more than the film.

The gleam in Jen’s eye … her easy, confident glow … her left hand resting on her not-so-flat tummy … unmistakable signs that she is with child! Or just relaxed.

“Jen very much wants to have a baby girl,” a source says. “She had a heart-to-heart with friends and relatives and this is the year she’s going to be a mom.”

If that wasn’t proof enough, this cover will do it …

Baby For Jen!

So who’s on deck to play dad? Gerard Butler! Jen not only “adores Gerry” but thinks “he’d make a perfect father.” This story is hilarious for several reasons:

The Last Song Opening Weekend Results: Mediocre

April 5th, 2010

Despite critical bashing of The Last Song, the first non-Hannah Montana movie to feature Miley Cyrus cracked the top five at the box office this weekend.

But the film only earned $16 million, not coming close to the top spot or even the number-three spot. Since it opened on Wednesday, the flick has garnered $25.6 million. See chart, below…

Box Office Results

While fake sources claim Miley thinks she should earn an Oscar for this role, and that her “ego is out of control,” Cyrus hasn’t actually responded publicly about her goals for the movie.

Still, it’s safe to assume she and producers were hoping for a better showing. Barely making half the box office as Why Did I Get Married Too? Really?!?

Cyrus has made it clear that her future is on the big screen, as opposed to television or in the recording studio. It’s too early to say how these results will affect those plans. But at least one thing came out of it: she met Liam Hemsworth.
