Gary Coleman Cause of Death Revealed: Fall

June 15th, 2010

As his ex-wife, manager, family members and possible mystery heir grapple for control of his estate, Gary Coleman’ official cause of death has been released.

According to the death certificate, obtained by ET, Coleman’s cause of death is listed simply as a “Fall.” The actor was hospitalized after a fall at home in May.

Other significant conditions are listed as “Chronic renal failure and complications.”

Gary had kidney problems all his life, and the aggressive treatment they required contributed to him reaching his adult height of 4′8″ at the age of just 14.

The manner of death is recorded as “Accident.” Some, including former manager Dion Mial, have suggested foul play was involved, but that looks unlikely.

Coleman, G.

R.I.P. Gary Coleman (1968-2010).

Interestingly, Coleman’s awful ex-wife, Shannon Price, is listed as his spouse, even though they never remarried after divorcing, then reconciling in 2008.

She is also listed as the “informant,” given that she placed the Gary Coleman 911 call. She didn’t care to drive Gary to the hospital, but hey, she called.

The autopsy was completed amid controversy surrounding his ex. If you saw Shannon Price in the Cause of Death box, would you have been shocked?

In control of Gary’s estate for now, despite another will leaving it all to Anna Gray, Price plans to scatter his ashes around trains. He really liked trains.

Gary Coleman’s Family, Friends and Agent to Shannon Price: You Suck!

June 8th, 2010

As we discussed earlier, Shannon Price may be the worst person ever.

First, Gary Coleman’s ex-wife said during the 911 call she made that she wouldn’t drive him to the hospital herself because she didn’t want to be traumatized.

We gave her the benefit of the doubt there … foolishly. Soon enough, she’s selling Gary Coleman death photos and hawking interviews to the highest bidder.

It’s no surprise that people close to Coleman are as appalled as we.

Victor Perillo, Gary’s former agent, is sick after hearing reports that his ex-wife Shannon Price took and sold photos of the former child star on his death bed.

Gary Coleman, Shannon Price in Court

Gary took Shannon to Divorce Court. It’s easy to see why.

The photos, showing Coleman in the hospital with tubes attached to him, “were never meant to get out,” insists Price’s family … even though she sold them.

Perillo said: “While Gary Coleman’s family continues to privately grieve the passing of their son, they would like to thank all of his fans for their generous support.”

“This kind gentle soul left the world with many beautiful memories to cherish.”

“That is why I am personally appalled to hear the news that some individuals are selling photos of Gary in the hospital. This is unconscionable and despicable. I would like to praise all the reputable news organizations that declined the offers.”

“I hope others will do the same out of respect and human decency.”

Coleman’s Diff’rent Strokes costar Todd Bridges even Twittered: “To find out pics of Gary Coleman in his last days got out, I hope someone burns in hell.”

Hard to argue with Todd there.

Bret Michaels Expresses Shock, Thrill Over Celebrity Apprentice Title

May 25th, 2010

What a difference a month makes…

Bret Michaels went from his death bed in late April to the top of the board room last night, becoming the latest Celebrity Apprentice champion when Donald Trump “hired” the ailing rocker.

“I gotta tell you, I am so thrilled, I am beyond thrilled to have won,” he told E! News at the show’s after-party.

Due to his recent stroke, of course, Michaels had to jet across the country in order to attend the finale, a decision that was NOT doctor-approved.

“We went back into the hospital again, they said, ‘Listen, we don’t advise that you fly, but if you wanna do it, here’s what you need to do.’ And I’m here, and I didn’t want to miss this for the world. I’m ready to rock,” he said.

As usual Donald Trump also chimed in with overflowing praise - but, for once, it wasn’t for himself.

“Bret has been fantastic right from the beginning,” Trump said. “He almost died a month ago, less than a month ago. He was a little bit shaky tonight, but in the end he came through like he always does.”

That’s what countless groupies have said.

Miami Medical Exclusive: What’s Next for Nurse Tuck?

May 9th, 2010

Omar Gooding, Miami Medical

Warning: The following story contains important details from Friday’s episode of Miami Medical. If you haven’t seen the episode, read at your own risk.

For a freshman drama like Miami Medical, putting a main cast member in mortal danger so early in the series’ run is a risky move. But show creator Jeffrey Lieber tells TVGuide.com it was a necessary one.

Check out photos of the Miami Medical cast

“One of the things we found out from doing research is that one of the particularities of trauma is that because there’s so much violence involved, the rate of doctors and nurses who are harmed is much higher than in the ER and the regular medical profession,” Lieber says. Because of that — and some contractual issues that required Omar Gooding to miss a few episodes — Lieber & Co. decided Nurse Tuck should fall victim to a stabbing in the hospital.

In Friday’s episode, Dr. Deleo (Mike Vogel) brings in a patient named Todd (Chad Faust), who claimed to have been stabbed during a mugging. While Todd flirts with Dr. Warren (Elisabeth Harnois), Tuck realizes that his stab wounds are similar to those of another patient in the trauma unit. By the time Dr. Warren realizes that Todd is actually the attacker and not a separate victim, Todd stabs Tuck with a pair of scissors and flees the hospital.

“What we had learned with the previous episodes was Tuck was becoming the heart of the show,” Lieber says. “He seemed like the obvious choice because it’s always the guy who gets the closest to both to the patients and the patients’ families who ends up in harm’s way.”

Although Gooding was shocked by the news, when he learned it would not be the end of his character, he was on board. “It was exciting,” Gooding says. “I told them as long as he doesn’t die, I was all for it. It was fun. I got fitted for the body cast, and we went right in there. They gut me open and stuck their hands in my chest and all that. All I had to do was lay there, so it was good times.”

Miami Medical’s Omar Gooding: Friday night slot is a “good thing”

Gooding’s character will return, but since CBS has capped Season 1 at just eight episodes, viewers won’t see much more of him for the next two episodes. “Tuck goes away for a bit,” Lieber says. “He’s referred to in subsequent episodes in terms of his recovery, but when we come back with him, it will very much be about how having this experience of being a patient changes his point of view on the people he deals with and what the struggles are.

“One of the things we want to get into in terms of the longer arc of the show is that recoveries are long and complicated,” Lieber says. “Hopefully we will be able to do some of

Nurse Jackie’s Merritt Wever: Zoey’s Breaking Out of Her Shell

March 22nd, 2010

Merritt Wever, Nurse Jackie

Season 1 of Nurse Jackie focused on the wreckage of Jackie’s personal life. But in Season 2, there’s plenty of mess to go around.

“I think, for all the characters, the writers laid great foundations for them last year,” says Merritt Wever, whose quirky nurse Zoey is one of the characters who will grab more attention. “For everybody this season, you’re just learning a lot more about who they are specifically.”

Nurse Jackie: The story behind Mo-Mo’s exit

For Zoey, that means no longer only playing Jackie’s lovable sidekick. “Zoey is no longer brand-spankin’ new, so she’s a little more comfortable in her surroundings,” Wever says. “She’s still gung-ho and enthusiastic, but she’s not as green anymore. She gets to take on more responsibility in the hospital. She gets to do a little bit more on her own, and she’s just more comfortable.”

Something that hasn’t changed: her adoration for Jackie (Edie Falco), despite learning of her affair with Eddie (Paul Schulze). “I think she still thinks that Jackie is the best and the brightest.” Wever says. “I don’t think you are always so clear exactly how much Zoey knows about people. But she is observant, and I think you never know what’s going to come out of her mouth.”

Zoey remains one of the characters who doesn’t battle many demons. Jackie pops pills and cheats on her husband. Dr. Cooper (Peter Facinelli) inappropriately grabs women when he gets nervous.

Check out photos of the Nurse Jackie cast

But Zoey does have problems with men. She not only juggles an off-screen suitor in Season 2, but also deals with a colleague who has a crush on her. “There’s a guy that comes around the hospital that is a little interested in Zoey,” Wever says. “So you get to see her interact in that kind of way for the first time.”

Also be on the lookout for Zoey bending the rules a bit more, especially when she mixes it up with guest star Julia Ormond. “I really liked what the writers had me do with her,” Wever says. “I’m always shocked and greatly pleased by what the writers come up with [for] Zoey to do — just the sheer balls. Zoey tries to do some covert operations. Even though she doesn’t really succeed, I think she can break the rules as well as other people.”

Nurse Jackie’s second season debuts Monday at 10/9c on Showtime. Season 1 is currently available on DVD.
