Jennifer Love Hewitt Gives Female Empowerment a New Name in The Client List

July 15th, 2010

Jennifer Love Hewitt, The Client List | Photo Credits: Jack Rowand/Lifetime

Jennifer Love Hewitt is well aware of possible judgments about her character in the Lifetime film The Client List: a married mother of three turned prostitute.

Bring it on — that’s part of the fun, she says.

“You do root for her and you do judge her, and you love that you judge her and by the end of it, you really forgive her for all that she’s done,” the 31-year-old Hewitt says. “Sometimes the best role models, and the people you should look up to the most, are the ones who…

Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift Rise Up for Nashville

June 23rd, 2010

Darn you, Miley Cyrus! This is the second consecutive day you’ve done something to force our praise, rather than our scorn.

Yesterday, we gave you props for wearing pants and delivering an important message to fans.

Now, we must acknowledge the role you played last night at Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert For Flood Recovery. The event was held at the Bridgestone Arena in Tennessee and raised money for victims of massive storms in that area earlier this year.

Said Miley, unfortunately bringing the tragedy back to herself: “We have a big farm with crops and I think that was affected a little bit. The scariest thing was not being able to get in touch with people because the phone lines were down.”

As seen above, Taylor Swift also played a role in the concert. She said of the flooding:

“For me, the fact that there were members of my band that lost their homes really affected me because those are my friends. Those are the people I call up as soon as we get home. The fact that it affected my band, that’s the most directly it affected me.”

Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top and Miranda Lambert also performed at the event. Below, check out more photos of Miley and Taylor from it:

Miami Medical Exclusive: What’s Next for Nurse Tuck?

May 9th, 2010

Omar Gooding, Miami Medical

Warning: The following story contains important details from Friday’s episode of Miami Medical. If you haven’t seen the episode, read at your own risk.

For a freshman drama like Miami Medical, putting a main cast member in mortal danger so early in the series’ run is a risky move. But show creator Jeffrey Lieber tells TVGuide.com it was a necessary one.

Check out photos of the Miami Medical cast

“One of the things we found out from doing research is that one of the particularities of trauma is that because there’s so much violence involved, the rate of doctors and nurses who are harmed is much higher than in the ER and the regular medical profession,” Lieber says. Because of that — and some contractual issues that required Omar Gooding to miss a few episodes — Lieber & Co. decided Nurse Tuck should fall victim to a stabbing in the hospital.

In Friday’s episode, Dr. Deleo (Mike Vogel) brings in a patient named Todd (Chad Faust), who claimed to have been stabbed during a mugging. While Todd flirts with Dr. Warren (Elisabeth Harnois), Tuck realizes that his stab wounds are similar to those of another patient in the trauma unit. By the time Dr. Warren realizes that Todd is actually the attacker and not a separate victim, Todd stabs Tuck with a pair of scissors and flees the hospital.

“What we had learned with the previous episodes was Tuck was becoming the heart of the show,” Lieber says. “He seemed like the obvious choice because it’s always the guy who gets the closest to both to the patients and the patients’ families who ends up in harm’s way.”

Although Gooding was shocked by the news, when he learned it would not be the end of his character, he was on board. “It was exciting,” Gooding says. “I told them as long as he doesn’t die, I was all for it. It was fun. I got fitted for the body cast, and we went right in there. They gut me open and stuck their hands in my chest and all that. All I had to do was lay there, so it was good times.”

Miami Medical’s Omar Gooding: Friday night slot is a “good thing”

Gooding’s character will return, but since CBS has capped Season 1 at just eight episodes, viewers won’t see much more of him for the next two episodes. “Tuck goes away for a bit,” Lieber says. “He’s referred to in subsequent episodes in terms of his recovery, but when we come back with him, it will very much be about how having this experience of being a patient changes his point of view on the people he deals with and what the struggles are.

“One of the things we want to get into in terms of the longer arc of the show is that recoveries are long and complicated,” Lieber says. “Hopefully we will be able to do some of

Susan Boyle to Release Autobiography

April 20th, 2010

Books are all the rage in Hollywood; some dumb, some REALLY dumb, and at least one hopefully inspiring.

Earlier today, we announced that the Kardashian sisters are planning a relationship-themed tome. Insert your own joke now.

Kelly LeBrock, the ex-wife of shady actor Steven Seagal, also plans to exploit her husband’s alleged seedy side by penning a biography about the father of her three kids. How charming.

But Susan Boyle is here to rescue us from all this inappropriate madness. She’ll tell her own story in The Woman I was Born to Be, a true autobiography due this fall.

Susan Photo

”I think I’ve grown up a lot in the last year, become more of a lady, and I’m not so frightened anymore,” she said, adding:

“I’m writing this book to try to show that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and I hope it will benefit other people. My story demonstrates that you shouldn’t just look at the label, you should look at the whole person, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually, and I hope that telling it will show that dreams are not impossible, if you’ve got courage and a willingness to go on no matter what the circumstances.”

Amen, SuBo! Will you purchase her self-written tale?

Sources: Elin Nordegren Woods to Divorce Tiger

April 16th, 2010

Tiger Woods and fed-up wife Elin Nordegren Woods appear headed to divorce court as attempts to heal their shattered union apparently came up short.

Elin has already met with a divorce lawyer, according to reports, and the final straw in their disintegrating marriage may have been his return to golf.

Or the creepy Tiger Woods Nike ad that accompanied it.

The New York Daily News, People, and his hometown Orlando Sentinel confirm the divorce lawyer meeting, and ET says the marriage is “indeed over.”

Numerous reports say Elin Nordegren was irate over the Nike ad that aired during last week’s Masters featuring the voice of Woods’ late father, Earl.

Already concerned that he was insincere in his efforts to change his ways and put family first, the ad spot is said to have pushed her over the edge.

Will Tiger Woods’ next drive be to divorce court?

According to ET, Woods believed his trip to rehab stint for sex addiction would be enough to keep his family together. Only temporarily, it seems. If that.

Elin is reportedly fixing up the $2 million house she purchased in her native country, fueling rumors that she is moving to Sweden for good this summer.

There is speculation that she will choose to live there with her kids after a split with Woods … and it would be hard to blame her if that were the case.

It is imperative to note that nothing has been confirmed by either Tiger or Elin Woods as of now. There is certainly more to this than we possibly know.

However, you have to figure things aren’t going well. All Tiger offered last week was that he was excited to be back … nary a word about his spouse.

Even worse? The fact that relations were noticeably better between the two as recently as early March, then cooled. Now they’re on vacation… separately.

What do you think: Elin Woods needs to

Dancing’s Chelsie Hightower: Jake and I Aren’t That Dramatic

Dancing With The Stars, Chelsie Hightower

After two weeks of tense video packages featuring her and partner Jake Pavelka, Chelsie Hightower wants to set the record straight. “We have a lot of fun together. We goof off, but they haven’t shown that yet in our packages,” the Dancing with the Stars pro tells TVGuide.com. “It’s not that dramatic. We have a few moments like every couple does, and that’s what they end up showing. What can you do? They want to show the stupid drama we have!” Their drama, she says, is partially rooted in the fact that the former Bachelor has never been coached before. So how are they doing this week? Find out below. Plus: Will Hightower return to So You Think You Can Dance as an All-Star?

TVGuide.com: You told Jake last week that you need willpower and focus from him. Has he shown that this week?
Chelsie Hightower:
Yeah, definitely. He’s not used to being in a coaching atmosphere. It’s foreign to him. He’s not used to someone telling him what to do and correcting him, so it was time to set the ground rules. I told him if you’re working as intensely on something as we are on the show, it’s just how it is. You have to learn to accept it and just work harder. He totally got it. He’s doing a great job. We’re actually a bit ahead of the game as far as our tango goes.

Dancing’s Chelsie Hightower on getting paired with Jake Pavelka: “Huh?”

TVGuide.com: So could the tango be a breakthrough dance for him?
Hightower:
I’m hoping so! It definitely has the potential to be with the way it’s going so far. We actually got the whole routine down in one day to music. We’re doing well!

TVGuide.com: It could be a comeback too after being in the bottom two. Were you surprised you ended up there?
Hightower:
I don’t know if I would say I was surprised. I’ve been here two years and you know nothing can ever be a shock. So much depends on votes. But I’m super-happy we made it through and got another chance to redeem ourselves and show what we’re made of. I wasn’t too worried [about elimination] until it was us and Buzz [Aldrin]! [Laughs] Then I was a little worried because he’s an icon. … I wasn’t really surprised that he was eliminated. His dancing wasn’t up to par. I was shocked when Shannen [Doherty] left first. She had potential. People just didn’t vote.

TVGuide.com: People think Kate [Gosselin] should’ve been eliminated already.
Hightower:
Yeah, that’s been a big topic: whether she should go home or not. And I don’t know! [Laughs] It depends if you like her or not. Her dancing’s not the best; I’ve seen better. But she’s got the fan base!

Dancing’s Jake Pavelka: I feel dumb every day in rehearsal

TVGuide.com: What do you think of the two-score format this week for technique and performance?
Hightower:
It’s interesting. It puts a lot of pressure on us. Now we’re not only getting judged on teaching the celebrity, but we’re also getting judged on our actual choreography. That’s basically what the artistic score is. It’s more pressure than normal. It’s going to be out of 60. It’s just this week, though, and then next week is movie week or something like that.

TVGuide.com: What does Jake need to work on the most?
Hightower:
Just getting the steps down and getting into character. Being stiff, but not tense. When he tries to be really sharp, he tends to get really tense, so we’re working on that. The judges have commented on the fact that his legs are flexible, which will actually help him in the tango because you don’t have to be as stiff as you are in the quickstep.

TVGuide.com: Your acoustic paso doble with Derek [Hough] was great last week. Will we see more stripped-down performances like that?
Hightower:
I hope so! It was fun. It was Mark [Ballas] and Derek’s idea. It was actually originally supposed to be me, Derek, Mark and Cheryl [Burke]. But Mark ended up getting hurt, so it ended up being Derek and me. We choreographed it together.

Lindsay Lohan is Going to Die

March 27th, 2010

If you had Lindsay Lohan in your celebrity death pool for 2010, the people close to her think it might have been a smart wager … not that they want you to win.

Sources connected to the train wreck believe that she desperately needs to get help, but she refuses to listen. As one extremely close professional person put it:

“If she doesn’t get help soon, she’s going to die.”

People trying to help Lindsay over the last year both professionally and personally feel something terrible will happen unless the celeb immediately gets help.

She promised mayhem in 2010 and is delivering. But will she even be around to see 2011? The way things have been going lately, we’d say 70-30 at best …

Collapsing

Down goes Lindsay … in every way. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com]

Help for substance abuse, that is. We are not talking about Michael or Dina Lohan, either. Lord knows those two losers are only interested in their own agendas.

These ominous warnings come from people who care and have seriously, albeit quietly tried to convince Lindsay to go to rehab. So far, they haven’t succeeded.

In typical fashion, Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been making excuses for her erratic behavior and though she admits she has issues, refuses to do $h!t about it.

After falling after leaving a party (above), she Tweeted, “Only I would get pushed into a large, sharp plant by crazy paparazzi! I need to start wearing flats :/”

And laying off the crack.

Tyson: I’m the Smartest and Strongest Player in Survivor History

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains - Tyson Apostol

After a week off, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains returned with ousters on both the Villains and the Heroes tribe. On the Villains team, Russell Hantz returned to his Samoa glory days when he pulled out a hidden immunity idol after getting a warning from “Boston Rob” Mariano. However, Russell floored his tribe mates when he opted against using the idol to save himself, instead saving ally Parvati Shallow. The move could have cost Russell his spot on the island, but the big move sent rival Tyson Apostol home instead. The 30-year-old spoke with TVGuide.com about why he blames himself for being blind-sided, who he wishes he had voted for instead, and how far he thinks his teammates will make it.

Watch full episodes of Survivor

TVGuide.com: What was the vibe at tribal council when Russell gave the immunity idol to Parvati?
Tyson Apostol: I knew I was screwed at that point. I was like, “Ah crap. Play it cool, Tyson. Play it cool.” … I knew had it. Coach told me he had it and he had told Coach so it wasn’t a surprise. It was 100 percent sure. The surprise was that he stood up, panicked and then gave it to Parvati.

TVGuide.com: Is it hard to leave the game in a blind side like that?
Tyson: I guess I get credit for taking out the smartest and strongest player in Survivor history: myself. I am the only one smart enough or strong enough to do that. In that respect, it is kind of a bummer that I did that to myself but in the same respect, I can’t be mad at anybody so I’m not going to be bitter and write a blog about it for the rest of my life, which is what many Survivors have done.

TVGuide.com: What do you mean you did it to yourself? What was the one thing you could have changed?
Tyson: I should have just stuck with the original plan instead of switching my vote … I was supposed to vote for Russell but I switched to Parvati because I wanted Parvati gone more than Russell. I had actually told Russell, “We’re voting three-three on you. So you need to either play the idol or vote Parvati yourself so that she’s gone.” Because I knew with Russell’s alliance gone, he would have nowhere to go but to me. At the last moment I thought, well, if Danielle and Parvati are smart, they’re going to vote Russell to save themselves and then Russell [will play the idol] … I felt like I had more of a connection with Russell maybe than with Parvati or Danielle. I didn’t tell anybody I was voting that way. There wasn’t a single person in the world who knew I was going to switch my vote.

Survivor’s Tom: “It’s a tough way to go out of the game”

TVGuide.com: Was there anything else you wish you would have changed or you could have changed that would have allowed you to stay?
Tyson: The other thing is that we could have done was gotten four people and voted against Danielle because nobody would have assumed that we’d go for Danielle like that. All I would have to do is vote the way I told everyone I was going to vote and that would have been enough.

TVGuide.com: You said this play will make help Russell get respect in the tribe but is there a chance this will put a bigger target on his back?
Tyson: It could work both ways. I think him giving the whole speech about being honorable and learning it from Coach would probably win Coach over a little bit, but everyone else might want him gone more now.

TVGuide.com: You’re a very strong player so how will the tribe feel your absence?
Tyson: I think pretty much at each challenge, it was me or Rob that was winning it for them. To put everything on Rob is a big chore. Rob and I are definitely the stand-out performers so for them to lose something like that is definitely going to take its toll, I imagine.

TVGuide.com: Which teammate surprised you the most on the Villains’ tribe?
Tyson: I was most surprised about Rob and I think most people would probably say that, except Russell, who obviously hates Rob to the core and madly jealous of him. When I watched Rob’s seasons, I really thought this guy needs to go early, he and I are going to clash and it’s not going to be good. Meeting him in person, I was like, this guy’s actually really cool. I think he shocked a lot of people … I know that all he wants to do here is win, whether it’s the challenge or the money and I can support that.

TVGuide.com: Which of your teammates do you think has the best chance of winning?
Tyson: The alliance that I was in still has the numbers, but I was kind of the glue that was holding it all together. So if they can hold it together, I think they’ll go far because there’s still five of them as opposed to three [in Russell's alliance]. I was holding two portions of it together and if it falls apart, anything can happen. If Rob can get to the finals, I think that nobody left in the game can beat him in a tribal council. I think he’s got the numbers and he has people that like him enough and even people that aren’t in his alliance probably would vote for him in a final tribal council … The game is so unpredictable that you never know. I can tell you who can’t win the game. I would say Rupert would have a very hard time winning the game and Russell would be virtually impossible. Danielle and Parvati would have a very tough time winning the game in a tribal council.
