(S06E03) ‘ The Closer box set ‘ isn’t a serial, but plot lines from one show to the other do occur, and in tonight’s show there were two ongoing stories that had a lot to offer. Does Brenda want to be the next Los Angel box sets es Chief of Police? Captain Raydor is pushing her in that direction, but after a week of contemplation, Brenda’s not sure yet … and then Fritz found out.

The other continuing tale was Julio’s connection with Ruben, the abandoned son of the Latina-killer cop who was offed last week. The chatter regarding Mel Gibson’s alleged abuse of ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva isn’t just getting attention online - it’s sparked interest among police.

A terrifying tape of Mel’s racist tirade against the mother of his eight-month-old daughter surfaced last week. Grigorieva herself denies leaking the tape.

The release of the rant followed accusations that he punched her in the face, however, painting a sick picture of the actor, who split with her in January.

In the tape, Mel allegedly references the incident in which Grigorieva says he assaulted her, and adds that she deserved it. What a class act this guy is.

Understandably, the police are looking into it.

If Oksana is to be believed, no one is safe from Mad Mel.

“An investigation of domestic violence has been launched by [Los Angel complete series es Sheriff's] Malibu/ Lost series dvd Hills station detectives … involving actor Mel Gibson and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva,” read a statement released Thursday.

Referring to the January 6 incident, “The police detective in charge of the investigation is currently gathering information regarding the allegations. Due to the investigation being preliminary in nature, no other information is available at this time.”

Attorneys on both sides weren’t available for comment.

Gibson and Grigorieva have been locked in a bitter custody fight over their daughter, with the Russian singer filing a restraining order June 25. That was the first time the claim he punched her in the face “more than once” became public.

Sources close to Gibson have denied there was any physical violence, claiming he merely was trying to stop Grigorieva from shaking Lucia “like a rag doll.”

Paris Hilton was arrested in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for allegedly smoking marijuana a few hours ago at a World Cup match.

Not as surprising as the Netherlands’ 2-1 win over Brazil, but unexpected!

The socialite was taken to the Mount Road Police Station in St. Croix, S.A. just before 8 p.m., Det. Mark Magadlela later confirmed to local news organizations.

It is believed that Hilton was indeed at the police station but has since been released. No further specifics were given as to why the ho-tel heiress was busted.

Details of Paris’ arrest remain murky at best.

Paris Hilton’s Los Angeles-based lawyer says the 29-year-old has served her probation period, after her 2007 conviction for alcohol-related reckless driving.

Unlike Lindsay Lohan, her probation is complete (as of January 2010), taking a lot of the potential heat off her from this screw-up, whatever it consisted of.

One TMZ source also reports that Paris wasn’t smoking dope, but an officer has reportedly said that Paris was caught red-handed in possession of weed.

Another report suggests it was a member of her entourage caught with the stuff, rather than Hilton herself, but that the whole crew was subsequently booked.

On The Hills Tuesday night, Spencer Pratt threatened to call the cops on Holly Montag if his wife’s sister didn’t leave his property. Idle threat? Apparently not!

Police were dispatched to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s home just hours ago after the couple called for help, saying Heidi’s mother was refusing to leave.

Heidi confirmed this to TMZ: “My mom just showed up to the house unannounced … after what she did to me on national TV, I have no desire to see her.”

Montag is referring to a recent episode of The Hills in which Darlene Egelhoff said point blank that she did not approve of her daughter’s plastic surgeries.

This week, Spencer claimed Darlene “tried to rape Heidi emotionally” and called her “just a vagina” who brought Heidi into the world, but is not special.

Heidi Montag is done with her mom’s emotional abuse!

Heidi notified her personal security team when her mom showed up “pounding on the door.” Darlene spoke with the police but has now left the premises.

She continues, “Her showing up is completely out of line and psychotic. I’m getting a restraining order against her.” No arrests were made in the incident.

Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Leffew said:

“Officers arrived on the scene and advised the mother that since her daughter is an adult, she doesn’t have to speak to [the mom] if she doesn’t want to. The mother said ‘fine, no problem’ and left. There were no citations or arrests.”

Heidi Montag promises this isn’t the end of all the drama: “I made it very clear that I want nothing to do with her in my life right now,” she tells People.

“I’m sick to my stomach she would even do something like this. She needs to stay away from me. I’m planning on getting a restraining order against her.”

Lawrence Taylor

NFL Hall of Famer and Dancing with the Stars alum Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of rape involving a 16-year-old runaway.

The former New York Giants linebacker was placed under arrest at the Holidome Hotel in Montebello, N.Y. An arraignment is scheduled at 4/3c and formal charges will be filed upon the completion of the investigation, a spokesman for the Ramapo, N.Y., Police Department said.

Taylor’s attorney, Kenneth Gribetz, told The Associated Press that he is “confident” Taylor, 51, will be exonerated.

The Giants and NFL had no comment.

Taylor, who’s had multiple run-ins with the law, led the Giants to Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991. A 10-time Pro Bowler, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999.

He competed on Season 8 of Dancing with Edyta Sliwinska. They finished in seventh place.

If you’re a legal immigrant in Arizona, walking down the street with your child, you may now get detained by the police solely based on the color of your skin.

While it seems incomprehensible that such a law could be passed in the United States, it’s a sad fact. It’s also one that Shakira spoke out against yesterday and then actually headed down to Phoenix to discuss in person with the mayor and other locals.

Turns out, she isn’t the only celebrity (or American with a conscience) to object to this law. At last night’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, Ricky Martin said the ruling “makes no sense” and then went off on inequality in general:

“You are not alone. We are with you. Put a stop to discrimination. Put a stop to hate. Put a stop to racism… Long live love, long live peace.”

The singer himself came out of the (obvious) closet last month.

A few others on hand also chimed in on the issue.

Said Latin Artist of the Year winner, Larry Hernandez: “It’s regrettable that they are discriminating against for the simple fact of looking Latino. It’s not fair. We have to say no to that law.”

Meanwhile, at a Phoenix press conference, Arizona native Linda Ronstadt stated: “Mexican-Americans are not going to take this lying down.”

It’s a contentious issue, one many Americans don’t understand: this is racial profiling at its worst. Imagine if all African-Americans were detained and searched simply because there are more blacks in the system on drug charges than whites. It’s the same idea.

Actor Rip Torn was arrested on Friday night for allegedly breaking into a Connecticut bank intoxicated … and armed with a loaded revolver, obviously.

Torn allegedly forced his way inside the Litchfield Bancorp building, setting off an alarm, state police from the Troop B barracks in North Canaan said.

When the police responded to the alarm around 9:40 p.m. they found Torn “with a loaded revolver and was highly intoxicated,” according to officials.

The actor, 78, was taken into custody without incident, and is being held there on a $100,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

This Rip Torn mug shot is actually from his previous drunk driving arrest in N.Y. State. Still, it’s an all-time classic. Look at this guy! Dude, take it easy. Yeesh.

Authorities say Rip will be charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. Who does this guy think he is, DMX?

He had two previous drunken driven charges against him in New York.

He was acquitted in a 2004 case and, in a second drunk driving case (see above), he pleaded guilty in 2007 to a lesser charge of being ability impaired.

Torn, a resident of Salisbury, Conn., is an award-winning actor in film and theater with more than 50 years of work under his belt. Recently, he has appeared in Dodgeball, August, Happy Tears, The Golden Boys and even TV’s 30 Rock.
