We mean this with all due respect, but perhaps Kristen Stewart should quit acting. She really doesn’t seem to enjoy the spotlight, does she?
Aside from making inappropriate comments (such as comparing the paparazzi to rapists, which she quickly apologized for), the actress comes across as painfully awkward in interviews. It’s refreshing, but it’s also just strange.
Now, in an interview with British magazine Hello!, Stewart admits that she has serious fear of fame. Especially fame at the level she’s achieved.
“I don’t feel very comfortable on the red carpet,” she said. “I look out there at a thousand people and I realize they could rush me and assassinate me. No security could protect me. Ostensibly they’re fans, but I think about them turning on me.”
Kristen says she “struggles to keep myself from crying” during public appearances and shows many signs of social anxiety disorder, a legitimate phobia that is triggered by perceived scrutiny from those around you.
There is good news for Stewart: at least she can go home and have Robert Pattinson hold her tightly every evening.
While Perez Hilton is basking in the spotlight and milking his Miley Cyrus photo controversy for all its worth, the 17-year old singer at the center of this scandal is acting like the mature one.
(Man, we never thought we’d write that about Miley Cyrus.)
Instead of harping on that situation, Miley is focusing on her music: she appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, joked with the host about Twitter and then performed “Can’t Be Tamed.” Most amazingly, she did it while wearing pants!
From there, Cyrus woke up today and took to the stage with Bret Michaels.
First, though, she continued to defend her racy new image, saying on Good Morning America:
“You have to be who you are to the full. There’s nothing that I’m holding back. And that’s what I want to give to my girl fans. Just be who you are.”
Ah, there’s the pompous Miley Cyrus we know and love… to mock: sounding all high and mighty about her music when, in reality, she’s just another recycled pop singer that wears skimpy clothing to prove how “edgy” she is.
Moreover, and we truly mean this with no predisposed bias or opinion of the singer, but just as people with two working ears: Miley sounds HORRIBLE in the following duet:

Breaking, shocking news, readers:
Miley Cyrus has been spotted in actual clothing!
We know this is difficult to believe, based on the attire Miley donned in Paris and in Rio last week. But it’s true, and we can prove it:
Meanwhile, in other news, it appears as though reports of a split between Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were premature. These two were spotted in California yesterday, holding hands and looking as happy as ever.
We may criticize Miley (often), but we wish her nothing but the best in her personal life. Perhaps she and Liam will soon get married, have children and settle down away from the spotlight. Far, far, far away from the spotlight.
A gossip site can dream, can’t it?
Kate Gosselin’s new TLC show, the revamped Kate Plus 8, premiered last night on TLC. As the title and scads of news reports indicate, Jon Gosselin is MIA.
For Kate, this is a good thing. For the rest of us? Debatable. No one disputes that Jon has serious d-bag qualities, but was that part of the show’s appeal?
Put another way, was the palpable marital conflict of Jon and Kate Plus 8 as big a reason to tune in as the eight, titular little cuties? In a way, we say yes.
Sure, the show was cute before things went off the rails. But admit it, you wanna see Jon’s girlfriend Ellen Ross meet the kids, Kate verbally castrate him, etc.
Last night, Kate Plus 8 contained some interesting revelations from Kate and the requisite kid-related humor. But there was a certain suspense missing.
KATE PLUS 8 MINUS 1 D-BAG: Just not the same.
Kate taking her big brood to Discovery Cove in Orlando, Fla., for the sextuplets’ sixth birthdays was sweet. It just seemed too … normal and non-dysfunctional.
We’ll see how long the network can ride Kate (via the new Kate Plus 8 and Twist of Kate) in a drama-free format. Some of the highlights from last night:
- Kate calling swimming with dolphins a rite of passage, when the vast majority of parents could never afford or have a TV network arrange such a thing.
- Bodyguard and alleged lover Steve Neild speaking out for the first time. He seems to be actively involved as her manager/protector, on platonic terms.
- Kate revealing what has always been her biggest fear in this world: not being on TV or in the spotlight anymore having a judge take away her kids.
Did you watch Kate Plus 8? Would you consider it in its current form? Should Kate just go away for good? Follow the jump for more pics and a clip …

Whether Glee’s Sue Sylvester is berating Will Schuester’s hair or using her cutthroat one-liners to describe the glee kids, Jane Lynch strikes the perfect balance between villain and sarcastic genius. And we just can’t get enough.
Before Glee returns Tuesday (9:28/8:28c, Fox) check out our list of the eight best unfiltered lines Sue has uttered to date:
Glee’s Jane Lynch confirms engagement
8. Episode 6: “Vitamin D”
[Writing in her journal]
“Every time I try to destroy that clutch of scab-eating mouth breathers, it only comes back stronger. Like some sexually ambiguous horror-movie villain.”
7. Episode 2: “Showmance”
[Making a proposition for Will to get rid of the glee club]
“Let’s break it down. You want to be creative; you want to be in the spotlight. Face it: You want to be me. So here’s the deal. You do with your depressive little group of kids what I did with my wealthy elderly mother: Euthanize it.”
6. Episode 13: “Sectionals”
[Fighting with Will about the leaked set list for sectionals]
“I’m reasonably confident you will be adding revenge to the long list of things you’re no good at, right next to being married, running a high school glee club, and finding a hair style that doesn’t make you look like a lesbian. Love ya like a sister.”
5. Episode 9: “Wheels”
[Trying to train new cheerleader Becky]
“You think this is hard? Try auditioning for Baywatch and being told that they’re going in another direction. That was hard.”
4. Episode 12: “Mattress”
[Chastising Will about the glee kids' mattress commercial]
“You wouldn’t know if your glee club was using your office to breed rabbits for pets or for food. You know why? You’re too busy chasing tail and loading your hair with enormous amounts of product. I mean today it just looks like you put lard in it.”
3. Episode 12: “Mattress”
Perhaps we didn’t give Radar Online and its vague, anonymous sources enough credit, because it looks like Kim Kardashian-Reggie Bush breakup rumors are true.
Sources confirm to E! News that the reality star and her Super Bowl champion NFL star beau have called it quits for real. So what was the issue this time around?
The “increased fame and crazy busy schedule” of Kim have been an ongoing source of conflict for the twosome, who reunited last August after a quick breakup.
While Kim’s in South Beach shooting Season Two of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Reggie, who has always had trouble with the spotlight, has been out in NYC.
She was by his side as he won the championship with the New Orleans Saints this winter, and then vacationed in Costa Rica. But following that, things went south.
IT’S OVER: So … how long until Kim and Reggie reunite again?
We may never learn exactly why, as the couple mutually decided to part ways a few days ago and have agreed not to discuss the split in public, says a source.
Of course, this being Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush, another reunion between the running back and world’s greatest body isn’t completely out of the question.
They do truly love each other and there’s no bad blood, say insiders close to the pair who say they’re even open to the idea of reconciling further down the road.
Just the same, “they need to be apart” right now. Sad news to report for us, but also good, we suppose, in the sense that it seems like it’s what they both wanted.
Besides, now there’s at least a 0.01 percent change Ray J can dump whatever skank he picked on his reality show and swoop in for another romp with Kim.
The domestic agenda of Barack Obama was not the only thing affected by the election of Scott Brown as a senator from Massachusetts.
The politician’s daughter, Ayla Brown, has found herself back in the spotlight.
A season five semifinalist on American Idol, Ayla had pretty much faded into obscurity prior to her dad’s shocking victory. She had planned to release a new album in April, but her label called the morning after Mr. Brown was elected and said it wanted to move up the release date of “Circles.” To January 26!
Fortunately, the CD was complete and Brown can look forward to greater sales than previously expected. She talked about the whirlwind of her career with Entertainment Weekly:
On her American Idol experience: It was positive. I was 17 at the time. I had only played basketball. Never sang in front of people, except for national anthems at local high school games. So being on stage with a live band was a first for me. Of course I was nervous. Of course there were times I felt I had no idea what I was doing. That was the fun part.
On her new album: This CD I’ve had much more of a part in, in terms of the thought process, the lyric writing, music, everything. It means that much more to me because of that.
On her dad’s Idol prospects: Uh, I don’t think he would do well at all. I haven’t heard him sing in years. I would be very curious to see how that would go.
Will you purchase Ayla’s album?
See the article here:
With the names of this season’s American Idol finalists having been leaked, THG is aiming to feature all 24 of the top contestants in various posts, articles and videos for our readers.
That’s just how we roll.
For aspiring singers with an interesting backstory and a lot of known information available, such as Jermaine Sellers, this isn’t a difficult task.
For others, such as Andrew Garcia, only the bare essentials are out there. This, of course, is what makes American Idol such a delight: it thrusts heretofore anonymous, aspiring artists into the spotlight and makes them into stars.
Might Garcia be next?
